The Reason Why We Sing

Image
These are just study notes that I have been gathering up as I have been learning about praise and worship. I hope for those who have a heart to study the word of God will find pointers and a place to start their journey of learning.. . “ For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding ”. Psalms 47:7. May our Praise and Worship be filled with understanding. Expressing our worship                                                                                                            Why We Sing To sing means to utter sweet or melodious sound. Singing in worship terms means rejoicing; thanksgiving; prayer; praise; worship of God In The bible we have seen some songs being sung and the bible cites  Moses Exodus   15,   Numbers 21:17, Deuteronomy 32,   Revelations 15:3, Deborah Judges 5 Hannah 1 Sam 2, David in 2 Samuel   22, and Psalms Mary Luke 1:46-55 Zacharias Luke 1:68-79, The angels Luke 2:13 Simeon Luke 2:29 The r

The Place of the Word of God in Worship

God uses his word within us to speak to us, God always builds on his word. The more the word of God you have in you, the more God speaks to you.   As you read and know the word, God builds you on the inside and speaks to you more and in the process this changes your personal walk with Him revolutionizing your worship. I have seen worship leaders who look like nothing on the exterior or those that don’t meet the profile and not vocally talented but when they sing heavens open for them. Why? " The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple" .   Psalms 119:130. If we can live in a place where our worship is based on his word then we walk and lead people in the light because the word of God leads and guides us. His word brings understanding to us and as worship leaders we have access to understanding because we know his word, “ to know his word is to know Him” . It’s not just about singing songs or leading people it’s about creat

Characteristics Of A Worshipper

Being a child of God and being called a Christian qualifies a person to be a worshipper, whether you have a sweet voice or a horsey voice, whether you can dance or you have CRD (Caucasian Rhythm Disorder) in God’s books you qualify as a worshipper. The name of a person reveals their character and the quality of worship reveals the character of a worshipper . Just like the names of God reveal his character and a worshipper is known his or her character. Characteristics of a Worshipper Brokenness and Humility “ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise” Psalms 51:17   “The LORD is nigh (near) unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” Psalms 34:18 “Because your heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heard his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbled thyself before me, and didst rend thy clot

Admiration! Totally Lost in Worship

Worship is giving, offering, presenting glory, honour, majesty, power and worth to Him who seats on the throne and this is done in various ways. One would use music, one could serve God, one would minister to God, surrender his or her life towards God, one would kneel, one would dance and one would live his life consecrated for God. There are many ways to express our worship. Worship starts from the heart and we use whatever we have to express it to God. Today when I read this scripture in Ezekiel 46, it took me aback and this came out of this scripture. “And thou shalt daily offer a burnt-offering unto Jehovah, of a yearling-lamb without blemish: thou shalt prepare it morning by morning” , Ezekiel 46: 13. Basically hear God is instructing Israel that they offer a lamb which a year old every morning of their lives to God. Theologists agree that on this chapter God did not demand an evening sacrifice as he had done in the past. Sacrifices in the Old Testament were mostl
