Tehillah Worship

 My story before we can go any further, I was part of an amazing 70 plus member choir for over 5 years before I moved to play percussion in the band for another 2 years. Whilst I was in my second year in the choir I was just an ordinary tenor singer, I went to a small little church and when they heard that I was from the big choir and they said help us teach us to that which you know and before I knew it they appointed me to be a worship leader in their interdenominational gathering. You must be asking, what's your point? You might just be a singer in a huge choir or small choir it doesn't matter there is a day when you lead people in worship, so let's start learning worship leading. Whether you are a worship leader, singer, ordinary person, musician or whatever, we need to learn and know how to lead people into the presence of God. Worship leaders work through and to prepare themselves to walk into that place and bring glory to God. One statement that was spoken a few week

Attaining or seeing a move of God or the power of God sweeping over all things in our sphere of influence starts with us the Worshippers. It's not someone else job or idea it actually start with us, we are the link to this and the power is then seen when we are corporate agreement to one thing. In our pursuit to see people change, in our pursuit to see the altar of God and the move of God in and amongst the people we serve and lead, we have to come to a place where we know who God is personally and come to a place where we have a resolve that is unshakeable. As worshippers the best way to know the God is by us spending time with the word of God and seeing it become alive in our lives. When we stay in the word we will come up to a place where we meet scriptures like these that say "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it". So many times we are so concerned and worried about how we sound and how we are being seen, the image of our lives, how PC (Politically Correct) we are. We are concerned about our image, how deep people think we are, what will people say after we leave the room or we lead worship on Sunday. We try our best to use the music, clothes, our voice to try and portray how deep and awesome we are in life. When you look back at the end of the day what is important is that have we stood in our place and allowed or facilitated God  to meet men and men to meet God. We want things to happen when we pray and when we lead worship, or when we do that solo or that special in church or at an outreach. Impact starts with us, individually as Worshippers and one of the things that causes us to see things happen in our lives is when we allow the word of a God to purify and clean us. So many times we desire and do our best to chase after God and make sure that our worship is on point and that it grows and most times we rarely have place of information about how to do it. God has already set for us a manual which as worshippers we should be able to know and live by. "Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you".  Proverbs 1:23 KJV  God's heart is always and will always be for the advancement of people and one of the things that will bring advancement in someone life is just the concept of reading and applying the word. Before we can even understand the concept of the word we need to have a personal relationship with the word and truth of God we need to learn to have a relationship with the spirit of God, he alone will cause us to know the truth of God written in his word. Jesus said that the spirit will help us to understand and know the truths of God and will bring into remembrance

Worship should be a reflex action in our lives. Our hands should automatically be extended in the air and songs should just come out of our hearts. We walk in and out of our houses but then we are walking in and walking out of the presence of God because our hearts and minds haven’t been prepared to worship The spirit is always willing and wanting the things of God but at times worship may not happen because the mind and the heart isn’t in that right place. Just today we were talking about movies and acting and someone mentioned how Leonardo Di Caprio in one of his movies he was so focused that in the morning he just walked without a word out of his trailer and walked on the scene and shot the scene and walked back to his trailer and was seen the next day. One of my friends said these actors get into the character by training their minds so that he can act a certain role. So many times we get used to doing something that we become familiar with it and we don’t hold it in high esteem. So many times as worship leaders we are used to olanning the set, people looking to us for direction, planning this and that and we then forget or get familiar with it that we forget the who is in charge. 1.        Me - Truth is as the worship leader I do so many things, I plan the set list or the Sunday list, I plan the practices, I sort out the songs and I also practice with the band separately and then I also then practice with worship team and I give them direction and a plan of execution. Even at times showing them what might happen and thing we might change. I actually lead the proceedings of worship in the church and in other service plus I train all the singers and musicians that stand on the altar. 2.        The Pastor – the man that we always forget, he might have a heavenly voice or is the worst singer in the world but the pastor s the worship lead

Worship is a relationship between the worshipper and the God who is being worshipped and it requires only a man and God. It’s not about a group, church, congregation or anything its one man and one God, worship is the time that a person has with God. Someone can’t worship on your behalf but only you, you alone can have a relationship with God My Worship is an expression of my relationship with God “Worship is the relationship that touches God’s heart and in turn He infuses our hearts with passion and compassion”. Being a worship leader isn’t about the voice alone, the team, the band and the killer reefs and turnarounds we make. I personally believe that there is so much more to worship leading or just being worshipper than what meets the eye.   A key place of our lives is in worship whether you are a singer, pastor, church member or even an usher. Worship doesn’t just happen in the physical but a lot of our lives are lived in the spiritual and even when we worship a lot of things happen that we do not see hence we don’t get to appreciate the importance of worship.  “ And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha ”. 2 Kings 6:17 KJV All Elisha did was to pray for his servant to see what He was seeing in the spiritual realm, I guess Gehazi was just all over the place worried sick of the impending danger

The power of praise is a weapon in spiritual warfare. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” [2Cor 10:4]. All victories, whether the result is an instan3taneous deliverance from a circumstance or simply strength to endure a long difficult trial, flow from God’s nature and character alone. God’s manifest presence is our victory, and praise makes room for the fullness of his presence. “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel” [Psalms 22:3]. If God inhabits our praise then, praising saturates the circumstance with God’s manifest presence. God set up his throne or dwells where his people praise him. We say a herd of cattle, a congregation of Christians, but we say a ‘palace of praise.’ Because it is God’s dwelling place. Satan cannot operate in God’s manifest presence. In 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 during the dedication of the temple, the Israelites praised the Lord such, that the manifest presence of God

Psalm 51: 15  O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.  Look at your life, take a quick glance on your life. Think about this, what has closed your mouth from declaring the work of the Lord, what has closed praise not to flow out of our lives.  Is it sin, grief, pain, anger towards God, torment, stagnation, tiredness, confusion, wrong words, busyness, jobs, the work of God to many things going on?  Without knowing, praise might have  stopped coming out of your lips, without knowing our mouths are filled with so many other things that have overshadowed the praise of God to stop flowing... Jeremiah 1:9 (KJV) Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. It doesn’t matter what instrument you play or what song you sing or that you stand at the back of the row and people don’t recognize you. The bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and as a worshipper if your heart and life is full of his spirit then however you minister you minister out the spirit with which you are full off As a worshipper leading a choir or a church into God whatever you condition that you have will be carried into the crowd. If there is lethargy in your spirit that condition is forwarded into the people, you give what you carry.      If we can sing, speak or serve or do all we do by the spirit we are giving God an opportunity to create life because the spirit creates life wherever it goes. Jesus said “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”. John 6:63 . If we all our ministry, songs, bible studies, homes are full of the spirit then the life of God is dispensed into people’s lives and situations.

You know the Old Testament was cool but we don’t live there anymore we now live under the dispensation of grace, someone said as I talked about holiness and worship. You know Jesus died for our sins and what we are today is by his grace and I realized this kind of teaching has come with the same gospel of universal salvation. If you don’t know what that Is the gospel of universal salvation says everyone shall be saved at the end of the world including the devil himself will be saved because of God’s infinite grace. In their eyes holiness, sanctity, offering is of the Old Testament. How Holiness has lost in place in worship is because we have allowed some form of teaching which isn’t of God to fill and flood our lives and our families. Doctrines from within our churches but I don’t blame the church we should blame ourselves because we don’t know the word of God and what it says about who we are.   May we be like the Bereans who studied the word to weigh and understand Pa
