The Difference Between A Worship Leader and An Artist

Sometimes I hate to lead worship. Why? Because nobody cares. Nobody. cares. And that’s actually a very good thing. Nobody cares about the songs you wrote. Nobody cares about your flawless musical arrangements. Nobody cares about how you look. Nobody cares how much you know. Nobody cares how many mistakes you make. What do people care about? They care about connecting with Jesus. They care about finding their purpose. They care about the peace of God. They care about knowing and believing the truth. They care about their lives being a part of something bigger. That’s the difference between an artist building a fanbase and a worship leader serving a community. It’s a different skill set. It’s a different goal. An artist grows a fanbase. A worship leader grows worshipers. An artist obsesses over their art. A worship leaders obsesses over the Kingdom. An artist sings songs. A worship leader groans with desperation for Jesus. An artist performs. A worship l

Words or No Words, Lyrics or No Lyrics, I Can Worship God

Personally I love one thing that I have been noticing in the body of Christ that people are starting to understand that worship isn’t just singing songs or playing music but that Worship is beyond lyrics. We then have a crop of people in the same space who don’t know what to do if they don’t have music or words, yes they know that worship is beyond that but then what else can they do. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”. 1 Corinthians 6:20 John Wesley said this in response to this verse “Yield your bodies and all their members, as well as your souls and all their faculties, as instruments of righteousness to God. Devote and employ all ye have, and all ye are, entirely, unreservedly, and forever, to his glory.” Our bodies are meant to glorify God, outside words, lyrics and music our lives can minister glory, our bodies can bless the Lord through the way we live daily and the way we carry ourselves in

Living In The Presence of God

We have been taught how to worship and we have been taught how to praise regardless of how and when, we worship because we love to but at the same time there is the presence of God that very few people have been taught about and know about. Pst Bonnie Deuschle calls the Great Connection that is entering his courts with praise and entering his gates with thanksgiving. In church we know how to get into the presence of God and as soon as we enter into his goodness we stop so that the Pastor can preach the message. Once we are in the presence of God we don’t know what to do.   I had never seen these scriptures before when I saw them I was amazed. “ Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear , than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth , and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few . Fo

Teach Us To Worship

So many times we are busy fighting over the way things should be done we are quarreling over the format and manner in which things should be done. At times we are at loggerheads because of content, genre, music instruments, day and time, we forget that it is God who should determine where we stand and who we become. At the other hand we are like the Israelites when they wanted o bring back the ark of the covenant form the hands of the philistine and there at the threshold when the ark stumbled and then Uzzah who was seated driving the ox drawn cart reached out to hold the ark from falling and God struck him dead right there at the spot. King David wasn’t chaffed and went all out at God, even me I was like God what wrong did Uzzah. Reading through a book I learnt that Philistine gods where always carried on a brand new ox drawn cart and Israel wanted to carry the same Philistine (worldly) model to answer a God problem or challenge. King David ordered a search be do

The Reason Why We Sing

These are just study notes that I have been gathering up as I have been learning about praise and worship. I hope for those who have a heart to study the word of God will find pointers and a place to start their journey of learning.. . “ For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding ”. Psalms 47:7. May our Praise and Worship be filled with understanding. Expressing our worship                                                                                                            Why We Sing To sing means to utter sweet or melodious sound. Singing in worship terms means rejoicing; thanksgiving; prayer; praise; worship of God In The bible we have seen some songs being sung and the bible cites  Moses Exodus   15,   Numbers 21:17, Deuteronomy 32,   Revelations 15:3, Deborah Judges 5 Hannah 1 Sam 2, David in 2 Samuel   22, and Psalms Mary Luke 1:46-55 Zacharias Luke 1:68-79, The angels Luke 2:13 Simeon Luke 2:29 The r
