Who is the Boss Oh! Worship Leader?

Image
So many times we get used to doing something that we become familiar with it and we don’t hold it in high esteem. So many times as worship leaders we are used to olanning the set, people looking to us for direction, planning this and that and we then forget or get familiar with it that we forget the who is in charge. 1.        Me - Truth is as the worship leader I do so many things, I plan the set list or the Sunday list, I plan the practices, I sort out the songs and I also practice with the band separately and then I also then practice with worship team and I give them direction and a plan of execution. Even at times showing them what might happen and thing we might change. I actually lead the proceedings of worship in the church and in other service plus I train all the singers and musicians that stand on the altar. 2.        The Pastor – the man that we always forget, he might have a heavenly voice or is the worst singer in the world but the pastor s the worship lead

Why God Is Fussy About His Presence

Image
From www.ilovejccafe.com So many times we wonder why God is always asking us to Worship Him when He is always receiving perfect worship in heaven. David always made mention and desired to be in the presence of the Lord but then come to think of it. Why the presence of the Lord, why do I have to take time to chase after the presence of the Lord? Someone sent me this scripture a couple of days ago and I was amazed by it and what it stands for. “And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.   Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore ” Joshua 3:3-4   So many times as Christians we are happy just having the presence of God in our lives, feeling Him, hearing him, goose bump

2 Things To Consider When Worship Leading With The Band.

Worship transcend beyond lyrics, words, notes or chords it’s a meeting place for God and man, it’s a place of man encountering God’s love and goodness. Music is one vehicle that will help us connect and engage with God and in different churches and denominations there is a variety of genres of music in their worship.  King David introduced worship with instruments on a large scale when he institutionalized worship in Israel with the arrival of the ark and the tabernacle of God. Levites where set aside by King David and the priest to be singers, porters, instrument player and help priests in sacrifices. All Levites where divided by family and lineage to do specific tasks.   “ David chose 4000 musicians from the 38,000 Levies in his reign, or one in ten of the whole tribe. Of these musicians, 288 were specially trained and skillful. 1 Chronicles_26:6-7 . The whole number was divided into 24 courses, each of which would, thus, consist of a full band of 154 musicians, pres

What Makes Worship Deep?

Image
Everyone desires to go deeper with the Lord, we experiment with a lot of things, ways, means and all we try to do is take our worship deeper. We try looping songs, we try singing like Hillsong, studying music notes playing like Paul Baloche and we spend all our time practising and sharpening skill. All in the desire to do is to take my worship deeper. “ Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me ”, Psalms 42:7 KJV. One thing I have learnt in these previous years is that depth always follows depth just like in Psalms 42. Have you ever seen people that sing the same song, play like the author but still they will not be able to get to the depth that the author. There is saying “use what you have to get what you don’t have”, when you have nothing you will get nothing. In life you plant a mango tree and you harvest mangoes. Deep calleth unto the deep in you, if the Spirit of God is the depth Depth in your life is

Created for Worship

Image
Man didn’t fall from the sky neither did he develop from a monkey, what makes you so sure that we developed from a monkey? Man was created by God in his image and likeness not only to take dominion, subdue and multiply but He was also created to worship God alone and to give him all the glory. What God is looking for is communion with men, “ And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden”, Genesis 3:8 KJV. What God looked for was communion and fellowship with Adam and Eve, he would come everyday and take time with them. God still wants that and He wants that with you. What else do you think Jesus did on the cross, just to triumph over the devil alone?   He ripped the curtain into two to allow man, access to God and his presence. God wants us to enjoy, enjoy his presence and his beauty as his children. Wor

The Place of Fear and Reverence in Worship

Image
The idea of worship is that one prostrates himself before a superior being with an attitude of awe, respect, honour and homage. It is amazing the things that can be unlocked just through reverence. “Let us worship with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire”. Hebrews 12:29 Reverence means to show respect or fear, a common way in Israel to show reverence was “falling down,” “lying on the ground facedown” as prostration of the body showing that the one you bow to is superior to you. Fear is a regard with feelings of respect and reverence or considering hallowed or exalted or be in awe of and the word simply states that “ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil” Proverbs 8:13 . Fear of the Lord is living a life which not only hates but is free of sin. God is God and we are to worship God with our hearts and our spirits full and overflowing with the fear of the Lord. God is friend and a Father but when we come to worship shall we still worship Him as friend or

Worshipping From The Heart....

Image
Courtesy : www. topnews.in How We Worship Reason 1 There are so many reason how we worship and I have realised that there are so many of them but if all of our worship isn't based from the heart we are busy self entertaining.  Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit and our hearts are the altars of sacrifice. The worship of God starts from the heart. God is not moved by the expressions we do in worship but the heart that is behind the expression just as one man said “true worship is felt inwardly and expressed through actions and expressions. God desires that worship flow from a broken, clean, contrite, open, pure heart has is bent on worshipping God alone. “Worship without the heart becomes stage play” “Rather let your heart be without words than for your words o be without a heart” Matt Redman “Worship is an occupation of the hearts with God Himself not its own needs”. Jesus spoke of the Samaritan woman that it was not place of worship that

What Worship Is All About

Image
Worship is the central part of God and heaven but is the most misunderstood part of human life. Someone once wrote if it’s a pattern of heaven then we should emulate it in our lives but when we look around creation in worshipping but man is walking with worship of self or desire to worship God but do not know why. www.cyberbrethren.com Worship isn’t just an idea, a person, or a thing it is a lifestyle that God has called us to leave. Genesis 1 speaks about the mandate of man multiply, subdue and fill the earth, I’m very curious person God wouldn’t just create us to make children, rule earth and then he has heaven full of multiplies angels, subduing all the three heaven and filling the galaxy and centering everything around worship. Kingdom of God resembles all these mandate of man but they are wrapped around worship, we have received the mandate but we didn’t receive the core of the mandate, Worship “O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise
