Where Is The Power In a Worship Song?

Image
The songs we sing today, do we take time to think through them and do we take time to understand what they mean and the impact they have on our lives and future. Every song has an effect on the singer and to the one it’s been sung to. Watch what you sing and to who. To see if a song qualifies as a biblical and acceptable worship song to God let us look at 2 Chronicles 20:21 “ And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth forever ”.   As they worshipped God that very morning 1.       Did their songs reflect worshipful hearts? And do the songs we sing today reflect our hearts or we just offer lip service just as the word states they speak but their hearts are far from me. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, the song rolling out of our mouth are they reflecting the conditions of our hearts

The Heart, the Mouth and the Worship

Image
So many times we are fighting a lot amongst ourselves what is the best genre or music loops to use for our denominations some call it worship wars. Today let’s look at our own inner and individual worship wars. The heart, the mouth and the worship The heart It’s difficult to say which is the best body part or organ but the heart takes the crown for me, it does unimaginable job. But the heart is the core of everything, it’s the core of Christianity and it’s the core of our worship.  The mouth Of all body parts the mouth is one of the most amazing body parts that we have been given. Like James says “ James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be ”. The mouth is the last first part of the creative process and God spoke the word and it was, our mouth declare what has and is to be.   What does this have to do with Worship ? Someone once said Worship is reminding God who says He says in his wor

The Reason Why We Sing

Image
These are just study notes that I have been gathering up as I have been learning about praise and worship. I hope for those who have a heart to study the word of God will find pointers and a place to start their journey of learning.. . “ For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding ”. Psalms 47:7. May our Praise and Worship be filled with understanding. Expressing our worship                                                                                                            Why We Sing To sing means to utter sweet or melodious sound. Singing in worship terms means rejoicing; thanksgiving; prayer; praise; worship of God In The bible we have seen some songs being sung and the bible cites  Moses Exodus   15,   Numbers 21:17, Deuteronomy 32,   Revelations 15:3, Deborah Judges 5 Hannah 1 Sam 2, David in 2 Samuel   22, and Psalms Mary Luke 1:46-55 Zacharias Luke 1:68-79, The angels Luke 2:13 Simeon Luke 2:29 The r

Before Leading Worship Consider These 4 Things..

Image
Being a worship leader I consider it as an amazing responsibility but more as a blessing because you are being entrusted to carry people into his presence and glory. As we carry out this mandate from God one thing becomes eminent is that there are a lot things to consider before, during and after a worship service.   One of those things to really consider is the team you are working with that is a choir, worship team, singers, vocalist, soloists or ministry team.    “ And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah… Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you”…“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Pr

So You Call Yourself A Worshipper

Image
Studying the books of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Revelations, Daniel and Job one thing that stood out was the detailed explanations of how these man of God had numerous encounters with God and in detail they explained how their whole experiences set a platform to know God from that place forward ad that revelation became the basis of their worship. God is a good God and the way that He appears to me and you is totally different especially determined by our level of comprehension of who He is and it’s true that we have not been all called in the same way but today we want to focus on your walk with Him by self introspection to gauge where we are. We are not comparing but looking from the start of our walk with Christ and our lives today. Questions To A Worshipper Is the presence of God (face of God) evident in your life    “And it came to pass, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that

Worship is A Decision

Image
Worship and Salvation are decisions that one has to make, no one makes the decision for you or sign on your behalf, they are all about you and God. God is looking to connect with men and especially with you. Men were created for fellowship with God and fellowship with God is one on one. “Worship is an internal attitude and action that focuses on God”. Anonymous Tithe blesses you, fasting makes your spirit sensitive to the Holy Spirit, offering and alms are added to your account, prayer allows you to withdraw your blessing kept for you by God. Worship is one lifestyle that causes God to stop, call a time out in Heaven, spin on his seat and take time to meet with you. Every time God came on earth or walked on earth what he was looking for was communion and fellowship with men, He would walk in the garden just to have fellowship with Adam and Eve.  In Genesis 11 God came down looking for communion with men and he found men building the Tower of Babel. God’s heart is to i

The Place of Fear and Reverence in Worship

Image
The idea of worship is that one prostrates himself before a superior being with an attitude of awe, respect, honour and homage. It is amazing the things that can be unlocked just through reverence. “Let us worship with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire”. Hebrews 12:29 Reverence means to show respect or fear, a common way in Israel to show reverence was “falling down,” “lying on the ground facedown” as prostration of the body showing that the one you bow to is superior to you. Fear is a regard with feelings of respect and reverence or considering hallowed or exalted or be in awe of and the word simply states that “ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil” Proverbs 8:13 . Fear of the Lord is living a life which not only hates but is free of sin. God is God and we are to worship God with our hearts and our spirits full and overflowing with the fear of the Lord. God is friend and a Father but when we come to worship shall we still worship Him as friend or
