What Makes Worship Deep?
“Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy
waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me”, Psalms 42:7
KJV. One thing I have learnt in these previous years is that depth always
follows depth just like in Psalms 42. Have you ever seen people that sing the
same song, play like the author but still they will not be able to get to the
depth that the author.
There
is saying “use what you have to get what you don’t have”, when you have nothing
you will get nothing. In life you plant a mango tree and you harvest mangoes.
Deep calleth unto the deep in you, if the Spirit of God is the depth
Depth
in your life is obtained by the word of God; careful study of the word of God
will open your life to that place where you have never imagined. The Spirit of
God transforms people into different people when men connect with Him, ask
Elijah how he ran faster than a chariot. All Scriptures is God breathed 2
Timothy 3:16 and the moment the word of God takes root in your life it grows
your own personal depth.
“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken
unto you”, John 15:3 and “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it
giveth understanding unto the simple”, Psalms 119:130. The word of God
cleans you from within, the word of God preserves you, and this same word in
Psalms 19 is said to cleanse us from secret faults and keeps us hidden from
sin.
Jesus
said “the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life”, John 6:63 KJV, we want depth in our
life then we have to take our devotional lives as worshippers as a very
important. Psalms say at the entrance of thy word there is light, and then
Jesus says this word will bring life and the spirit within you. Don’t read the
word of God so that you can worship in a deeper manner, study the word to know
God personally and develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit that is what
going to take you deeper.
To grow
any relationship to become a deeper one, you have to spend quality time with
that person and the result will be a deep strong relationship. For our worship
to become deeper you as a worshipper, may your relationship with the Spirit of
God and his word be of quality and in turn whenever you sing, play or offer
worship the Lord the depth within you will call out to the depth in God and
that is the place where we will see things.
Spend
time practising
, learning, refining your gift but most important of all
spend your time with Him and you will find that it will increase the depth of
your relationship with God.
“Become loaded with the word and the quality of your worship
will increase”
