Worship transcend beyond lyrics, words, notes or chords it’s a meeting place for God and man, it’s a place of man encountering God’s love and goodness. Music is one vehicle that will help us connect and engage with God and in different churches and denominations there is a variety of genres of music in their worship.  King David introduced worship with instruments on a large scale when he institutionalized worship in Israel with the arrival of the ark and the tabernacle of God. Levites where set aside by King David and the priest to be singers, porters, instrument player and help priests in sacrifices. Different places sing different songs, different churches use different genre of music or no music at all and its challenging as a worship leader because one thing that stands out in any place of worship are the songs of worship. A great worship leader is one who knows how to use worship songs to glorify God. It’s easy to stand in a room full of people and sing songs of worship and people either connect with them or people are baffled. It’s easy to choose songs that you know that anytime, any day you will “kill it” or you will deliver or we choose songs that won’t work.  We get in frantic mode to pick the best songs everyone will like, that every church is doing, the ones on the radio or songs that make everyone jump. Then, when it comes time to lead worship, we sing through the same songs. God uses his word within us to speak to us, God always builds on his word. The more the word of God you have in you, the more God speaks to you.   As you read and know the word, God builds you on the inside and speaks to you more and in the process this changes your personal walk with Him revolutionizing your worship. I have seen worship leaders who look like nothing on the exterior or those that don’t meet the profile and not vocally talented but when they sing heavens open for them. Why? The Holy Spirit is the 3 rd person of the Godhead, Trinity and the Holy Spirit is not a thing or item, He is a God. Times and again we forget that the Holy Spirit is himself God   Leading Worship is bringing people to the feet of God, leading people is about bringing them to place where they can encounter the King of Kings. Worship goes beyond us just singing songs or singing songs which are popular and which gets people dancing.  The Holy Spirit is one person who knows and understands realms of the spirit more than anyone. Jesus before he ascended he said “ But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance... ”, John 14:26 He is there to teach us all things, help us, to walk with us and to show us how to work things in life.  A teacher will always be there but the student has to be there for the teacher to teach.
