The Role of The Holy Spirit In Worship

The Holy Spirit is part of the Triune being and as the bible says that he was sent to earth so that he may teach us all things and helps us the Greek word for that is “paraclete” which means parallel to, it works parallel with the spirit of a man. Jesus in the book of John

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you”, John 16:13-14

The Holy Spirit is the best gift that God gave to mankind and we should allow him to work within us. The Holy Spirit isn’t an idea He is real and living inside of us, He is our helper and guide. It’s him who opens up our spirit and minds to see more of God, bringing revelation and wisdom in our lives, adorning us with favour and wisdom. To them that know Him they are led by Him

“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God”, (1Co 2: 10-11 KJV)

So the question of today is what is the Holy Spirit’s role in worship and how does he function in our worship. Looking at the scripture above the verse before the one quoted here Apostle Paul says who know the things if the flesh except the spirit of man and if that is so who know the things of God except the Holy Spirit.

God is God of wonders and depth and it’s only the Holy Spirit that know the deep things of God, it’s only the Spirit that knows the person of God, it’s only the Holy Spirit that knows the sound of heaven, it sonly the Holy Spirit that knows how to approach God, it’s only the Holy Spirit that know what bring pleasure to God.

If we are to bring worship before God that will cause him to turn his head or that is going to bring glory and pleasure to Him then we need to know the Holy Spirit and how he works. We need to learn to work with the Holy Spirit

Pastor Wilhelm Olivier always uses this analogy about worship He says that worship is like an itch that God has on his back, the Holy Spirit is like a guide. He knows exactly where God needs to be scratched, you scratch and the Holy Spirit would be saying lower to the left, scratch harder, go done a centimeter a bit to the left. The Holy Spirit is the top of the range navigation system of God that heaven has. We are blessed to have the Him in our lives.

Let’s not think that our voice are good enough, God has angels in heaven who can sing better, let’s not think it’s our offering, God doesn’t need our offering he already has the best offering give, god doesn’t need our dancing or painting, bowing down, our music, if we think he needs it we are mistaken because he already has better in heaven. But we need to learn to worship and be led by the Holy Spirit because we are the one who need to connect with God, He knows how to navigate the Spirit and bring us before God and present us before him. We don’t deserve it but God desires us.

Offerings, dancing, music, singing, painting is an act if the Holy Spirit is not leading it. The ball is in your court the choice is now yours to be or not to be led by the Holy Spirit. He knows God and will cause our worship to grant us audience with the king even when we don’t deserve it.
