Convenient Worship: Life of a Present Day Worshipper

Image
Hosea 4:13 (KJV) They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. Israel dumped their temple of Yawheh and also Baal shrines and created new ones on the  roof tops of their houses and under trees because they wanted shade. 1. Israel became professional idolators as they mixed with Canaan, they became good at being religious and killing sacrifices just because they wanted a braai.  We have turned to being professional in all we do (its a good thing being pro but not at the expense of God) but are we worshipping professionalism more than the One we meant to serve. 2. They changed their focus of worship for convenience sake. Does that sound like someone you know. Do we worship because it convenient, so i get to be recognized and noticed, or if I don't go to church today and sing for t...

What is Worship?

Image
Whilst praise in an expression of admiration and appreciation, worship is an expression of love and adoration. It is possible to admire someone and appreciate what they do without loving them. Worship has to do with our love for the Lord that is, giving Him our whole heart and life. We express our feelings towards God. This is why the greatest commandment is “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” [Matthew 22:37]. The Bible commands us to worship God. Israel was to worship God as Lord and Him alone. “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous ...

When Should We Praise God

Image
This Article was done by Taka Sande our Guest Blogger talking about Praise When Should We Praise God? ◈ At all times. “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” [Psalms 34:1]. ◈ In times of depression. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God” [Psalms 42:11] ◈ Among the people. “I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations” [Psalms 57:9]. ◈ All day long. “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised” [Psalms 113:3]. “Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day” [Psalms 71:8]. ◈ In everything. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” [Eph 5:20]. What Hinders Us From Praising God? There are many reasons why Christians do not praise God. The...

Praise, A Weapon in Spiritual Warfare

The power of praise is a weapon in spiritual warfare. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” [2Cor 10:4]. All victories, whether the result is an instan3taneous deliverance from a circumstance or simply strength to endure a long difficult trial, flow from God’s nature and character alone. God’s manifest presence is our victory, and praise makes room for the fullness of his presence. “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel” [Psalms 22:3]. If God inhabits our praise then, praising saturates the circumstance with God’s manifest presence. God set up his throne or dwells where his people praise him. We say a herd of cattle, a congregation of Christians, but we say a ‘palace of praise.’ Because it is God’s dwelling place. Satan cannot operate in God’s manifest presence. In 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 during the dedication of the temple, the Israelites praised the Lord such, that the manifest presence of God...

What is Praise?

Image
This week article was written by our Guest Blogger Taka Sande. . Praise is an expression of admiration and appreciation. When we praise someone we tell Him how wonderful [we think] he is, or how great his accomplishments are. It is the same with God. All true praise has something to do with acknowledging and focusing on God’s nature, character and power. It has elements of complimenting, glorifying, honouring and exalting God. Praise also involves joyful thanking and adoring of God, and celebration of his goodness and grace. To have effective praise we need to understand the attitude of God, the object of our praise. We have to know God. As we praise we focus on God’s; self-sufficiency, eternity, totality, love, presence, greatness, glory, uniqueness, holiness, Excellency, strength, reliability, majesty, creativity, generosity, ability, justice, beauty, kindness, forgiveness, faithfulness, powerfulness, righteousness, mercifulness, joy, stability, wonderfulness, truthfulness, patienc...

Why God is Fussy About His Presence Part 2

Image
“But Jesus answered, "I assure you that the Son can do nothing alone. He does only what he sees his Father doing. The Son does the same things that the Father does”. John 5:19   Jesus declared these words to prove a point to the Jews of his place and his ministry and was trying to show them the source of his life. Jesus meant that all He did was exactly what he SAW literally seeing. How did Jesus see what the father was doing? Jesus spent time with the father alone in his presence. Do you?  Jesus chased after God, Jesus even though he was God sought after the Father. He would serve people the whole day and then pray all night as long as he could carry. Think about it… The question would be why the presence of God? He already receives perfect angelic worship, the earth, creation gives him worship why does he still ask me to worship when he is already having w...

Why God Is Fussy About His Presence

Image
From www.ilovejccafe.com So many times we wonder why God is always asking us to Worship Him when He is always receiving perfect worship in heaven. David always made mention and desired to be in the presence of the Lord but then come to think of it. Why the presence of the Lord, why do I have to take time to chase after the presence of the Lord? Someone sent me this scripture a couple of days ago and I was amazed by it and what it stands for. “And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.   Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore ” Joshua 3:3-4   So many times as Christians we are happy just having the presence of God in our lives, feeling Him, hearing him, g...

Living In The Presence of God

Image
We have been taught how to worship and we have been taught how to praise regardless of how and when, we worship because we love to but at the same time there is the presence of God that very few people have been taught about and know about. Pst Bonnie Deuschle calls the Great Connection that is entering his courts with praise and entering his gates with thanksgiving. In church we know how to get into the presence of God and as soon as we enter into his goodness we stop so that the Pastor can preach the message. Once we are in the presence of God we don’t know what to do.   I had never seen these scriptures before when I saw them I was amazed. “ Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear , than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth , and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few ...
