Worship Is and Can Be Dangerous Part 3
In Genesis 4 we meet the two sons of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, this
story hasn’t set well with me and it sill is. God brought me to a certain
revelation about how serious he is about worship and its still bringing a lot
of elements out of it and I pray that God may reveal to you more about this
chapter beyond what he has revealed to me so far.
“One has to dig into the heart attitude, what God requires from you,
not what you feel like doing for Him” Wilhelm Olivier
Cain
was the 1st born son of Adam and Eve and he was a farmer or
agriculturalist, the bible say he was a was a tiller of the ground. Cain
brought to God an offering which was from the fruit of the ground
Abel
was the 2nd son of Adam and Eve and was a keeper of sheep in simple
terms he was a rancher, He was the younger brother to Cain and Abel also
brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.
It all starts with Cain and Abel bringing an offering before God and
the turning point in the whole chapter is verse 4 “And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering, but unto Cain
and to his offering he had not respect”
This
offering or sacrifice was meant to show gratitude to God and the question that
is a debate is why did God respect the offering of Abel over Cain? Why Yahweh
signified His acceptance of the one offering and rejection of the other, we are
not told.
Writers
believe that the rebuke was because of Cain's neglect to prepare his offering
according to strict ceremonial requirements.
This is seen in the manner that God responded to Cain “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be
accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door”. For me this shows that even though Cain
offered, there is something he didn’t do well, the question is what?
Taking
a look at the two men they both brought the first of their produce so I believe
it was not the difference in the material of the sacrifice but in their manner
of offering and the condition of their characters and hearts. Looking at what
God said “if you do well shall you not be accepted”
“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent (abundant) sacrifice
than Cain” Hebrews 11:4. The “more abundant sacrifice,” might mean “suggests
the deeper gratitude of Abel, and shows a fuller sense of the claims of God” to
the best.
There are several things that made the sacrifice of Cain loose respect
before God and those are the things that made Abel’s sacrifice a more excellent
sacrifice.
- Heart attitude of the worshipper, in this case it wasn’t the offering it was the place from where the offering came from.
- Manner of delivery is it God required or man designed.
- Preparation of the sacrifice
My question is now how many of
our offerings did go by the way side, how many of our offering got accepted by
God, how many of our offerings did God
deny and we died on the inside without knowing and now we are killing every Cain we meet because we aren’t able to be
accepted by God.
Worship is and can be dangerous in the place of which kind of offering
are you giving, a Cain offering or an Abel offering. Is our worship up to
scratch in the heart attitude, preparation and also in the manner of delivery? Cain
didn’t die physically but his attitude died, his manner and his preparation died
before God all because his worship wasn’t up to scratch
